Being an introvert

Monday, August, 25, 2014

Hello everyone, this is Anand with another update for Awesome English! I hope you had a great weekend as always. ?I had a great time checking out the beer gardens in Tokyo with my friends. In fact, I try and spend as much time with my friends as I can, because as anyone living overseas will know, it is your friends who makes life from getting too lonely (at least until you get married, right?). And of course, if learning a language is your goal, being able to communicate with real, living people plays an essential part. But I wouldn’t ever describe myself as an extrovert, or the type of person who thrives in social situation to the point of seeking them out. To be honest, I have always been in introverted person. I would say that for every hour spent with people I need two alone – time spent studying, reading, thinking and so on. ?The real myth about introverts is that we don’t like people at all. That’s taking it a little far in my opinion. ?I think that I need to be around people as well. ?However, if given my choice I think I would rather relax on my own, with a delicious drink and a good book as my company.

Food from home

Monday, August, 18, 2014

Hello everyone! ?I hope that you all made the most of your Obon long weekend. ?I had to work, but there were no students…so I was actually productive for once! ?In any case, I am a little renewed after my stay in India, so I am ready to go back to work. ?However, now that I am back, I get to enjoy some of the things I brought home with me! ?What is nice is that I got to bring back both things from India and things from Canada. ?This is possible because I told my brothers to bring some Canadian goodies with them to give to me. ?And they delivered nicely! ?I currently have FIVE boxes of cookies on my desk at home as well as two bottles of maple syrup, a Canadian standard. ?But best of all is the sodium-filled canned good that they brought with them. ?I have plenty of Chef Boyardee ravioli to enjoy and though I am sure to get sick eating them, I am looking forward to it!

Are there foods that you miss when you traveled abroad? ?I want to know!

India Update

Monday, August, 11, 2014

Hi there everyone.

Anand from Awesome English chiming in from India yet again.? My time here is winding down, and I can say I have experienced emotions I didn’t know I could feel, tasted flavors that I didn’t know existed and have seen the whole spectrum of life, from unspeakably poor to absurdly rich.? I don’t think any single blog post can encompass even a short time in such a vibrant country, so I am not going to try.? All I will say is that being able to spend time with my brothers and father as well as many family members whom I had never met before was an amazing experience.? I will try and explain a little more as weeks go on.?

Until next time,

Anand

India!

Monday, August, 04, 2014

Hello everyone.

Anand here with Awesome English as usual.? Hope you guys are getting geared up for the long weekend!? Mine has begun already.? In fact, as you read this I am in India, eating some of the spiciest food of my life.? It is actually my first time in India, but thankfully I have a good guide in my father who is from Chennai, in the southern part of the country.? So far it has been a lot of car rides around some of the most beautiful and some of the ugliest landscapes in the world.? You can see one of the most beautiful structures in the world in the Taj Mahal, but you can also see some of the saddest structures as well in its villages and slums.? I am still only a few days in, but I hope to bring some more updates soon.

Until then!?
Anand
