DIY PC repair

Hey all, Jordan here with another Awesome English report. So it’s a fact that computers are reliable, but things happen and parts go bad. This was the case with my own laptop, which is 3 and a half years old now.
I noticed the system’s clock began slowing down and this was apparently due to the CMOS battery failing. This battery will keep the CMOS powered and enable certain things to be saved, such as the system time, but also boot settings and what have you. Eventually, the battery died and every time I started my system it beeped and the only course was to turn it off, turn it back on, and then have it be the default settings. I wasn’t going to stand for this for long, so I went shopping and no computer stores had the right battery. The next step was Amazon. They had it for about 630 yen, so I ordered it, installed it, and all became right in the world once more.
A computer store would totally rip off customers and probably charge 5,000 yen minimum for a 2 minute job like this. If you can do something yourself, do it.

A new hobby with art
Wednesday, October, 21, 2015
Hey all, Jordan here with another Awesome English report. I never considered myself to be much of an artist, but I think that’s changed in the past few days.
I have heard of and seen Perler beads and artwork that goes with them, but was never too interested until recently. I’m not sure what caused this interest, but I think it’s growing on me.
So today, I thought I’d show a piece I made. This particular one comes from a game called Metroid and I made the titular character. I’m also not restricted to only 3 colors as the system was, so I addd some translucent green and a black border. What will be made next? Only the future can tell.

Pizza time
Wednesday, October, 14, 2015
Hey all, Jordan here with another Awesome English report. One thing I discovered last year was not only does Japan have Domino’s Pizza, but it’s even better than its US counterpart.
I remember being at an event and they had it, so I researched if there was one near my house and sure enough there is. Unlike a lot of pizza chains, Domino’s is fairly reasonable with their prices. No ?\3,000 larges. It’s one of the tastes that really reminds me of the US.
This was taken not at home, but at work. The place is close enough to deliver out here as well, so I may be getting some more of that in the future. But not too much.

New Star Wars promo
Thursday, October, 08, 2015
Hey all, Jordan here with another Awesome English report. So I was out walking around and came across a 7-11 with a banner overhead.
Promo for the new Star Wars, coming in December, and selling what looks like a ticket you can get in advance. If this is anything like 1999, the first few days will be super popular.
Will it be a new hope or will be all hype? I guess only time will tell. This will likely be the last time the original cast actually appears in one of these movies.

Getting cooler
Thursday, October, 01, 2015
Hey all, Jordan here with another Awesome English report. So it’s only natural for the temperature to drop as we get closer to winter. Japan is warmer than where I lived in the US, though.
Usually in October, we have a very sudden drop in average daily temperature. I didn’t expect the drop to come so soon, though.
The shot I took was outside, where normally there’s a only a straight view of Nagoya Station, but now there’s a scaffold installed. I have no idea what kind of construction is happening, but I’m sure it will be very noisy and annoying for at least 2 months.
